Head Coach Dean Smith gave his reaction to the 2-1 victory over Cardiff City, which gave his side their fourth win in five matches.
“It was really nice to get the win,” said Dean. “It was hard going; the first half was pretty dismal, not a lot of action.”
“Second half we got into the players a little bit and got a reaction, got more energetic, more end to end. We created a couple of chances we didn’t take but they did as well and they were always a threat. Thankfully Scott Hogan’s got on the pitch and got two goals.”
Josh Clarke, whose cross provided Scott Hogan with his goal on Saturday, filled in for an injured Maxime Colin at right back, to the pleasure of Smith.
“With Maxime’s abdominal problem three matches is an awful lot for him,” said Dean. “Josh has deserved his chance; he’s trained really well and played really well in the devs when he’s had the opportunity. So I had no qualms about putting him in there; I didn’t want to take Nico out of midfield, his energy and mobility has been really good for us. I’m really pleased for Clarkey, I thought he took his opportunity tonight.
