Clayton Donaldson said promotion to The Championship was the realisation of a dream he was sold three years ago.
Clayton joined The Bees in the summer of 2011, turning down other offers to sign at Griffin Park.
He said Brentford’s staff sold him the vision of the Club reaching The Championship and now they had done so.
A 1-0 win over Preston North End on Friday was enough to send The Bees up.
“When I first signed I knew the Club was on the up,” said the striker.
“They sold the Club to me and told me where they wanted to go.
“This is the realisation of that.
“When I signed everyone at Brentford thought it could happen within the three years I had signed for.
“We have done it.
“It has been great to contribute and it made coming down here worth it.
“This club can go further.”
Brentford knew they needed results to go their way to earn promotion on Monday.
Clayton said he had a feeling it would happen and when fans poured on to the pitch at the final whistle he knew Leyton Orient and Rotherham United had been beaten.
He said it was great to give something back to the Brentford fans and finally get The Bees up after multiple Play-Off defeats, culminating in a loss in the Play-Off Final last year after finishing third in the table.
“Before the game there was a feeling it was there and at 1-0 up I felt it was over,” said Clayton.
“We felt we would be up if we won.
“The final whistle was closure.
“The fans reaction made it clear.
“We can see what it means to the fans, seven Play-Off losses.
“We have given something back to the fans, they have been terrific since I have been here and deserve it.
“We deserved to go up last year, it didn’t happen.
“It is good to repay it.”
Clayton it out of contract in the summer but said he hoped he could now stay.
“Hopefully I will be part of the Brentford team in The Championship,” he said.
“My ambition was to play higher and test myself.
“I wanted that to be with Brentford.
“Now we are there, it is looking good.”
Jake Reeves said he was really excited to now have a chance to play in The Championship.
He added he only really knew promotion had been secured when Brentford fans poured on to the pitch.
“I am speechless to be honest, and really excited,” said Jake.
“With five minutes left the fans were on the pitch and I was wondering what was going on.
“I was mobbed; my boots and socks have gone.
“I am buzzing.”
Jake came through the youth ranks at Griffin Park and turned professional in 2011.
He was given a debut when Mark Warburton was assisting Nicky Forster in 2011 and when Uwe Rösler took charge, Jake was given a prominent role.
He said since Mark Warburton took over as Brentford Manager in December, when Uwe Rösler joined Wigan Athletic, things have been great.
“We have been banging on the door and getting closer to promotion,” said Jake.
“We believed it would happen this year.
“There was a bit of a setback with Uwe moving to Wigan, he is doing a great job there and did so here.
“Warbs has carried it on and the lads haven’t looked back.
“It is great to be part of.
“Mark gave me my debut three years ago.
“Everything has moved on.
“It is great to be part of.”
