Hello all.
This week has been an emotional rollercoaster for Brentford Women's and Girls FC.
With the one training session this week the atmosphere was airy and lacked tempo which we always have.
Training went on playing a match and coaching came in when needed about how to defend from the front if the other team were to play out from the back.
At the end of the session we were all called in to hear that our Manager/Coach William Boye, of one and half seasons, is leaving.
It was an emotional time for the team but Will was taking the FA Cup game so we knew we had to go out and play well for his last game in charge.
Sunday saw us play Hemel Hempstead in the FA Cup at home.
The team was Caroline Brooks, Amber Luzar, Manuela, myself (Charlotte), Amber Langston Lloyd, Lisa Grant, Claire Richardson (goody), skipper Victoria James (bear), Lavana, Ashley Cheatley and Dana Johnson.
Subs; Lauren Restel, Sophie Lee, Sophie, Lucy Easton, Judith.
Within the first five minutes Ashley Cheatley got through on goal, boom 1-0 and the top goal scorer adds another to her list.
We kept the pressure up and in the tenth minute Dana scores to make it 2-0.
We pressed from their kick off and Lavana cut in from the wing to make it 3-0.
Our back four kept a high line throughout the first half and played them offside on a few occasions, however their striker played off our shoulders and got through on goal and scored. 3-1 at half time.
The second half saw attack after attack, Dana grabbed two more goals and Lavana scored another one with half an hour to go to make it 6-1.
Unfortunately we got caught out at the back again with a bit of a scramble and Vicky James headed back to the keeper who wasn't there and ended up in the back of the net, 6-2 (at least she scored! ;))
After that we picked things up again, Ashley Cheatley completing her Hat-trick and Dana getting her fourth of the game to make the final score 9-2.
Subs used in the game were, Lucy Easton on for Lisa Grant, Judith on for Manuela and finally Sophie on for Vicky James.
It was a great win and we celebrated with Cava, biscuits and cake, not forgetting the cartons of orange juice.
I'd like to take this time to Thank Will Boye on being our manager for the last two seasons.
He has been an inspiration for many of us at Brentford.
Over the last five years at the club he has taken the girls, now Under-15's, through promotions and the transition of moving to 11-a-side.
For us ladies he has helped us gain back to back promotions and winning three cups, what a CV to have eh!?
From all involved at Brentford Women's and Girls Football Club we want to wish Will all the luck for the future in the game we all love, and to achieve your dreams.
We couldn't have asked for anyone better.
