Head Coach Lee Carsley gave his post-match reaction to the 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers.
“I thought the first half was quite even,” said Lee. “The goal by us was a good move. We were a little bit lucky; their keeper has saved it and it’s bounced in. Their goal was unfortunate – a little bit frustrating.
“The second half was a lot more controlled by us, more comfortable, Butts has pulled off the save of the game, but all in all we’ve created three or four good opportunities without having that final finish.”
The first half saw striker Marco Drjuricin leave on a stretcher after a challenge in the 13th minute but Lee intimated it wasn’t a cause for concern.
“It looks like the lads slipped and come through the back of him,” said Lee. “He’ll be fine, I don’t think it’s too serious. He’s in a boot at the minute but he’s walking. He’s an important part of what we do with his work rate.”
The 41-year-old said that his priorities in the international break were to work with the players battling for a First Team place.
“I think it’s important we still work on the shape,” said Lee. “I’ve really focused on the eleven starters when we’ve done the shape because I was wary of the fact that I didn’t want to change the team around too much so it’s important to give some of the squad players the chance to understand exactly what we’re looking for.”
