Brentford Women dominated on their return to Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon, defeating Newhaven 8-0 in London and South East Premier action.
Ashley Cheatley led the charge with four goals, with Wiktoria Kiszkis adding two and Millie Constantine and Makeba Black also getting on the scoresheet.
Carly Williams’ side started brightly and took the lead inside three minutes. After intercepting a Newhaven pass, Black played the ball through the backline to Cheatley, whose left-footed shot was saved by Harriet Kwok in goal for the visitors. Kiszkis was there for the rebound, however, and sent the ball into the back of the net.
Cheatley was played through again on eight minutes by Maddie Phillips and this time made no mistake, calmly finishing to double the Bees’ advantage.
Dominating the game the west Londoners eyed a third goal two minutes later as Rebecca Teale sent the ball to the back post from the right side, but Abbi Smith’s header was wide.
The pressure stayed up and this time it was Constantine launching a shot goalward, but Kwok was up to the task and saved it diving high to her left.
A well-earned third goal followed on 15 minutes. Phillips’ long run past multiple defenders helped her gain space deep in the Newhaven box before cutting it back to Cheatley, who finished well from close range.
After hitting the bar with a long-range effort on 25 minutes Constantine went one better three minutes later. Teale’s cross from the right side looked to be dealt with by Jess Mead at the back post but her clearance didn’t travel far, Constantine pouncing on the loose ball and firing it home to make it 4-0.
As the half-hour mark ticked over, Teale again presented an issue for the visitors down the right side, making her way deep into their box before cutting back to Kiszkis, but her shot was well saved by Kwok.
Brentford’s fifth goal followed soon after. After the ball bounced off the pack from a Bees’ corner, Black, with her back towards goal, played the ball behind her, turned and fired it home.
Phillips was proving a hassle through the midfield for Newhaven and almost had a goal as half-time approached. After winning the ball back the no.2 pushed forward and into the visitors’ box, but her strike smashed into the left post before being cleared.
Out of the break, Newhaven started brightly and tested the Brentford defence in the early moments of the second half.
Saskia Reeves-Priestley was called into action on 51 minutes as a long-range free-kick was sent her way, the goalkeeper doing well to tip the ball over the bar.
Williams’ side responded positively, however. Kiszkis made a strong run down the left side of Newhaven’s box before crossing to Teale at the back post, but the ball was cleared just in time by Faye Hannaford.
A minute later Rhian Cleverly sent a dangerous cross in from the left side, Cheatley doing well to finish across her body on the volley with her left foot, securing her hat-trick.
The Brentford no.16’s fourth goal came immediately after. Teale streamed through the middle of the pitch before putting the ball through the backline to an open Cheatley, who finished well for the Bees’ seventh.
Kiszkis got back in on the action on 63 minutes, the striker finding space on the right side of the box and shooting across her body into the bottom left corner for the west Londoners’ eight goal of the afternoon.
With 20 minutes to play Newhaven looked to be through on goal as Hannah Williams broke forward, but Lucy Potter did well to come across from the right side and clear the danger.
With four goals to her name Cheatley was hungry for more and looked destine for a fifth on 75 minutes, but her effort was kept out by Kwok.
Two minutes later, Asees Sangha’s cross from the left side found Ilana Harris-Walters on the right side of the box. The winger composed herself and looked to score, but her strike was just over the bar.

Head coach Carly Williams was pleased with her side's performance in their dominant win over Newhaven.
"I'm extremely proud of the players," she said. "We've had a fantastic couple of weeks and they deserved that performance.
"We wanted to start the game fast, this is our home, we wanted to make an impression. I thought the players started fast, I thought we connected really well, especially in that first 15 minutes.
"Today we played the game in front of us; we played the opposition in front of us.
"It was fantastic, the way they've prepared themselves, the way they've turned up today, I can't ask for anymore."
