Bradley Clayton believes that the Development Squad need to be more clinical after their 2-1 win over Coventry City on Monday.
The Bees completely dominated the first-half and should have led by more than Bradley’s fine early strike.
The failure to take their chances came back to bite them as Jordan Shipley levelled things with 20 minutes to go.
The win was secured four minutes later however as Gradi Milenge arrived to smash home and secure the three points.
Speaking to Bees Player after the game Bradley thought Brentford played some excellent football in patches and were worth the win.
However he added that they should have killed the game off given the number of chances that they had.
“We were playing well to create the chances and get into the final third but we weren’t clinical enough,” said Bradley.
“In our passing play and control of the game we were exploiting the spaces so we were doing well.
“In the first-half we were in control and created tons of chances and should have killed the game off.
“In the second-half we pressed better but we didn’t open them up as much.
“In the end we won though so you have to be pleased.”
Bradley’s 11th minute strike was his first for the Development Squad in a competitive match and came after his brace on Saturday for the Youth Team.
The diminutive striker said that there was only one thing in his mind once he got into the box.
Playing up Bradley said that he had to adapt his game to play against bigger and more physical defenders.
After scoring three goals in three days Bradley said he is high on confidence and hopes that can lead to better performances from him and the team.
“It was a good start for me,” said Bradley.
“I feel like I could have had another one or two.
“It was great to score on my first game so I am pleased.
“The defender backed off me when I was in the box so I thought I was going to take it on myself.
“I created a yard of space, had a go and it went in.
“I had to change my game a bit when I came up against a big, professional centre-half.
“I pulled out wide a bit more and tried to avoid the physical battle and that was how I scored my goal.
“I tried a few times to hold the ball up but I got out-muscled.
“I had to try and adapt my game and create a bit more space with my movement to get the time on the ball that I needed.
“Scoring on Saturday gave me tons of confidence for today.
“When you get that one goal it all just flows naturally.
“It gives you confidence to do things that you wouldn’t normally do.
“You might shoot when you get the chance or take a player on when normally you wouldn’t.
“Everybody is happy and everybody is playing well and that is what happens when you win.
“Everyone will try new things and we play that bit better.
“Everyone is more on it and we want that to carry on.
“The games are coming thick and fast. I want to just score as many goals as possible.
“If I go game by game and keep the confidence going that should happen.”
Bradley managed five goals last season in his first season in the Youth Team.
In just three games this season he has already notched three goals and he is looking to add more to that tally in the coming weeks.
Bradley’s aim this season is to hit double figure goals for the Youth Team adding that any goals higher up the chain would be a real bonus.
“Originally I set myself a target of double figures for the Youth Team this season because I only got five last season which I wasn’t too pleased with,” said Bradley.
“I am trying to get to double figures and then push on after that.
“Any goals for the Development Squad will be a bonus after that.
“If I get another chance I will gladly take it.
“If I play with the Youth Team then I will give 100% and try and get the chance again.”
