Uwe Rösler says that the Bees have to impose themselves on games from the start if they want to get the three points against Oldham on Saturday.
The Bees boss was happy with the way that his side responded in the second half against Bournemouth but he says that the Bees can’t start so slowly in future if they want to win games.
“I think Tuesday was a game of two halves," said Uwe.
“We responded very well in the second half but in the first half we were under the cosh. I think collectively we can play much better than we showed in the first half – I don’t think there is one outfield player who can say he had a good game in the first 45 minutes.
“When people watched the first half they saw that we were very lucky to go in only 2-1 down but it is the players who should earn all the credit for the comeback.
“They are the ones who are going over that white line and they are responsible for the result. They did that very well in the second half and if I had been offered a point before the game I would have taken it.
“In the end it comes down to winning your duals putting in the shift in terms of mileage and winning your headers and then the football comes. You have to earn the right to play first and that will never change.”
Uwe said he thought that his side were two or three points behind schedule at this stage of the season after the results against Walsall and Leyton Orient and that his is going to put extra pressure on the Bees home form.
“We live in a results orientated business and when we play more like we can then we will win more games.
“I think a point at Bournemouth was the most we could get after the way the game had started. It is games like Leyton Orient and Walsall that will hurt us more come the end of the season.
“If you aren’t winning games away from home then there is more pressure on your home form. I think there is more pressure on us because we try to win all our home games.
“We are not underestimating Oldham at all. I have probably seen them more than any other team in League One in the last 16 months so I know them quite well, but in the end it is up to us.
“We want to get the three points and that will do us good in the table. If we approach it the same way as we did last season when we had to win our home games to stay in the top 10 then we will be fine.”
For the game tomorrow the Bees will play in the commemorative silver kit for the Community Sports Trust which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Uwe said that the Community Sports Trust work was vital in maintaining Brentford’s status as a community club and helping to spread the club’s name further in the local community.
“It is a great thing that we have such a strong bond with the local community trust.
“We want to be seen as a club for the local people in West London.
“We want to attract families with kids to get a new generation of fans between the ages of 5 and 12.
“We want to be a family friendly club and the Community Trust does a great job of advertising the club in the local schools.”
