Brentford fans have helped the Club take its total raised for charity Sport Relief to more than £10,000 after the latest successful Pay What You Can fixture.
Brentford Football Club ran its ground-breaking, fund-raising Pay What You Can ticketing initiative for the third season in a row on Saturday.
A crowd of approaching 11,000 watched The Bees beat Rotherham United 1-0 to climb to fifth in the Sky Bet Championship.
Thousands of them had bought tickets under the Pay What You Can initiative, where advance match tickets for Brentford fans are sold at the price the supporter is able to pay.
The minimum price for a ticket was £5 and money was raised for charity at the same time as when more than £10 was paid, 50 per cent of the excess, excluding VAT, was set aside to donate to the charity Sport Relief.
The money raised from Saturday’s fixture means Brentford FC has now donated more than £10,000 to Sport Relief over the past three years.
Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “It is very rewarding for everyone at the Club to see the continued success of our ground breaking Pay What You Can initiative.
“The home areas of the stadium were once again packed almost to full capacity and we know that the scheme introduced more potential new supporters to the Club.
“We can already identify more than 100 Season Ticket Holders who've become hooked on The Bees after being introduced through the initiative.
“It is also wonderful that through the support of the Club and generosity of our fans that we've been able to raise well over £10,000 for Sport Relief in the three seasons that we've operated Pay What You Can.
“I would like to thank the fans for their support.”
