A Chloe Logie hat-trick and strikes from Kirsty Matthews and Sophie Troth saw Brentford Women's First Team proceed to the Second Qualifying Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Karleigh Osborne would have been looking for his side to push on following their previous 3-0 win in the LSE Regional Women’s Football League Division 1 North.

Brentford started brightly with Eleonora Cotterell coming close in the opening minutes of the game after her long range strike went just wide of the post.

After some well worked link up play with Sophie Troth, Kirsty Matthews forced a great save from the Woodley United keeper 10 minutes in, as the home side pushed to take the lead.

Despite the early Brentford pressure, it was the away side who opened the scoring on 12 minutes. Lilly Hadrava was deemed to have fouled Woodley United’s number seven in the box earning her team a penalty, which was calmly slotted into the bottom corner giving the visitors an early lead.

Brentford responded within a matter of minutes however, after Logie showed great composure to slot her shot from close range into the bottom corner.

Logie was at it again just a few minutes later after finding herself one on one with the Woodley United keeper, the number nine smashed home from a tight angle to put the Bees 2-1 up.

The Brentford striker was on fire in the opening half hour of the game and got her hat-trick on 29 minutes, giving the home team a 3-1 lead after following up her rebounded shot with a powerful header, giving the Bees a two goal cushion as half-time approached.

Logie was impressing and came close to getting her fourth just before half-time but her effort from around 25 yards went just wide of the post.

Woodley United started the second half as they began the first and were rewarded for their early pressure as their number seven's firm strike put the away team back into the game.

Brentford fired back again showing their determination to put the game to bed when Kirsty Matthews tapped home on 49 minutes, after some excellent work from Troth.

The visitors failed to give up hope and kept pushing to stay in the game. After a goal mouth scramble the ball was smashed into the roof of the net from the Woodley centre back, giving her side another life line.

An action packed game saw Brentford get their fifth on the hour mark as midfielder Troth’s brilliantly lobbed effort flew over the Woodley United keeper, rounding off an excellent performance.

Woodley made it an uncomfortable last few minutes for the Bees when they managed to get another goal back, making it 5-4 with 10 minutes to go.

Osborne’s ladies managed to see out some late pressure to ensure the victory as they proceed through to the next round of the Vitality Women’s’ FA Cup where they will head to Abingdon United.
