Callum Wilson has praised new Brentford signing El Hadji Malick Diouf’s work-rate, potential and quality from the left after being reunited with his former West Ham United team-mate.

Wilson spent the 2025/26 campaign alongside Diouf at West Ham and believes the 21-year-old can make a significant impact following his permanent move to the Bees.

"As a person, he's really humble, down to earth, hard-working and also vibrant," said Wilson.

"As a player, he's still young, so he's got so much potential, but he's also got great experience from last year. There was some good, some bad, but he will have learned and grown from that.

"His left foot and his delivery are unbelievable, so I think we've got someone who's hard-working, who's ready to fight for the team, and it's great competition for everyone in the squad."

Diouf also sought Wilson's thoughts on Brentford after his former team-mate made the move across London earlier this summer.

"Yeah, I did quite a bit actually," Wilson said when asked whether the pair had spoken about the club.

"He asked me a few questions, so I gave him a little insight into the club and what I'd experienced over the first few weeks that I was here.

"Clearly they were positive conversations, which is why he's in the door!"

Wilson experienced Diouf's attacking qualities first-hand during their season together at West Ham.

The Senegal international registered five assists in 32 Premier League appearances, including the delivery for Wilson's first Hammers goal in a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in August 2025.

And the Brentford striker believes Diouf's quality from the left can provide another valuable supply line for the Bees' forwards.

"My first goal for West Ham last season was from his delivery as well, so it just shows that, in forward positions, when you get the ball to him in a good area, he can provide good quality," Wilson explained.

"His service is unbelievable for a striker because, if you're on a counter attack or he's in a position to deliver, you know that the ball is going to come in with pace and it's accurate.

"You just have to make sure, as a forward, you're putting yourself in the right positions.

"He's going to add to the great players that are already here."
