Brentford B defender Ji-soo Kim has been called up to the South Korea national team for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup.
The 18-year-old, who arrived in west London from K League Two side Seongnam earlier this year, has been a consistent feature in Neil MacFarlane’s B team this season.
His performances for the young Bees saw him earn his first international call-up in September, but the youngster did not make his debut as South Korea took on Wales and Saudi Arabia in two friendlies.
Nevertheless, the centre-back has been named in Jurgen Klinsman’s squad.
For the tournament, which occurs every four years and will be held in Qatar, South Korea have been drawn in Group E alongside Malyasia, Jordan and Bahrain.
On the opportunity for Ji-soo to feature at the Asian Cup, Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: "To be picked for such a prestigious tournament at such a young age is an excellent achievement and credit to him for working hard to achieve this feat.
"He has continued to show signs that he can be a top defender and that is being reflected with this opportunity. Everyone here at the Academy is proud of him and wishes him well."
