Ukrainian families in the local area were invited to Gtech Community Stadium to meet Brentford player Yehor Yarmoliuk.

Over 50 children with their families attended the special event in the Legends Lounge this week to meet Yarmoliuk, who is from Verkhnodniprovsk in Ukraine. The families in attendance live in the UK after fleeing Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.

Yarmoliuk earned promotion to the Brentford’s first team for the 2023/24 season.

Families heard the central midfielder discuss his career with Brentford staff member Maaria Manirko, who is also from Ukraine. He discussed why he decided to play football, how he’s settled into the UK and his advice to young aspiring footballers in the audience.

As well as hearing from Yarmoliuk, the young attendees had an opportunity to have photographs with the midfielder. The club also provided goodie bags with merchandise for the children and tickets to an upcoming game.
