A dominant 90-minute performance saw Brentford Women beat Dorking Wanderers 4-0 in London and South East Premier action at Meadowbank Football Ground on Sunday.
First half goals by Alissa Down and Freya Worsley gave the Bees a comfortable lead going into half-time. Worsley secured her brace early in the second half, before Sangha netted to ensure all three points went back to west London.
In cold and rainy conditions, the game started evenly as both sides tried to settle into the contest.
Brentford leading goalscorer Chelsie Berry had the best early chance inside the opening 10 minutes. Pushing forward down the left side, Berry cut inside to her right and looked to bend the ball into the top right corner, but it was kept out by Dorking goalkeeper Libby Stratton diving to her left. Ilana Harris-Walters looked to put home the rebound but her effort sailed over the bar.
Two minutes later Sangha won the ball back in Dorking’s half with a strong tackle, before taking possession near the edge of the box and firing at goal with her left foot, however her effort was well blocked.
Starting to dominate the game the Bees came close to an opener soon after as Ashley Cheatley pounced on a loose Dorking pass. Finding herself in a one-vs-one situation heading towards goal, Cheatley cut to her right once inside the box and fired, but the ball sailed wide of the top right corner.
Carly Williams’ side didn’t have to wait much longer for the opener to come, however. After Sangha was taken down outside the box, Down stepped up to take the free-kick and sent a superb strike into the top right corner to make it 1-0.
The hosts threatened soon after as Georgia Heasman made her way down the right side of the box and looked to shoot on goal, however the ball was well blocked by Brentford goalkeeper Sophie Boycott coming out of her goal.
A minute later the Bees’ lead was doubled through Worsley. Running onto Cheatley’s sublime through ball down the middle of the pitch, Worsley tucked a neat finish into the bottom left corner as Stratton came out of her goal to try and make the save.
As the rain continued to fall and darkness came over Meadowbank the west Londoners continued to look threatening as they eyed a third goal. After winning the ball back deep in Brentford’s half Berry immediately played to Harris-Walters who looked to lob Stratton who had come out of her goal, however she didn’t have enough on her attempt as Stratton secured it.
Keen to start the second half strongly Williams’ side wasted little time in adding a third goal. Pouncing on a loose Dorking pass in their own half, Worsley quickly fired at goal, lobbing Stratton into the top right corner to make it 3-0 on 55 minutes.
Looking to get in on the action it was Cheatley who looked threatening next. Taking possession outside the box, the Brentford no.16 fired a strong left-foot strike but it was well kept out by Stratton. Sangha looked to smash home the rebound, but her effort was blocked.
Sangha went one better as the clocked ticked over the 70-minute mark. Running onto Worsley’s ball down the left side of the box, the midfielder fired a powerful left-foot strike past Stratton, making it 4-0 with 20 minutes to play.
As the game inched towards full-time the Bees continued to dominate the ball and were nearly rewarded with a fifth goal. Cheatley found herself through on goal off Renai McCrea’s pass and looked to put it past Stratton, however the Dorking goalkeeper did well to keep the ball out of the net.
The full-time whistle followed soon after and confirmed a fourth-straight win for the Bees and third-straight in the league, furthering the west Londoners time at the top of the table.

Carly Williams: I think it was a controlled performance
Brentford Women head coach Carly Williams was full of praise for her side following their 4-0 league win over Dorking Wanderers on Sunday.
"I think it was a controlled performance for us today, to come out with a win was always the aim but a fantastic team performance I thought today," she said.
"Some fantastic goals in there. Scoring from a set play, then Freya to get one off her left and then one off her right and then that ball through to Asees as well which included a great finish.
"That's what we're looking for, making sure that we get those goals. I'm not so worried about which player it is necessarily, but the way we play and making sure that we stay to our style of play, I thought that was fantastic today.
"I think Sophie had to make one save in the first half, in the second half she didn't have to make a save. I think our first contacts were fantastic, whenever they delivered into our box, we were always looking to clear the ball.
"Of course I'm always looking for a clean sheet and we're really pleased to get that today."
