Brentford Women B came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Civil Service in the Greater London Division One South on Sunday.

After going 2-0 down inside the opening 40 minutes, a first-half stoppage-time goal from Marta Boabonay brought Tommy Ryan-Maynard’s side back into the game at Kings House Sports Ground. Karina Hlek’s strike just after half-time ensured the points were shared.

Playing away from home, the Bees didn’t get off to the best start as an own goal gave Civil Service the lead inside 20 minutes.

Miscommunication in the backline saw goalkeeper Christie Tucker come off her line to take possession, however a defender’s header sailed over her hands and into the goal.

In sunny conditions, the game steadied, however it was the hosts who doubled their advantage with a slick counter attack on 38 minutes.

Playing out to the right side, Civil Service began their attack before cutting the ball back into the middle, Elizabeth Dodd able to beat her defender to the ball before sending her strike past the outstretched leg of Tucker and into the bottom-left corner.

Despite trailing, the Bees continued to play as they eyed a goal before the half-time break. They got just that in stoppage-time.

Running onto Alicia Henry’s long ball down the right side, Boabonay beat her defender to the drop of the ball and pushed into the box, slipping a superb effort past the goalkeeper to open Brentford’s account.

The west Londoners started the second half well and were rewarded with an equaliser on 52 minutes.

An Ava Slade corner was met strongly by Hlek in the middle of the box, her effort smashing into the back of the net to get the Bees back into the game.

Brentford couldn't find the winning goal and it ended 2-2.

The result leaves Ryan-Maynard’s side top of the table after 10 fixtures, three points clear of Regents Park Rangers, who have played an extra game.

The Bees return home this Sunday to face Holmesdale Keets at Bedfont and Feltham Social Club (kick-off 2pm GMT).
