Brentford Women beat Millwall Lionesses 3-1 away from home in their final London and South East Premier division game of the season on Sunday afternoon.

In warm conditions at St Pauls Stadium, Carly Williams' side put in a good performance to close out what has been a promising first season. Asees Sangha scored two classy goals whilst Ashley Cheatley scored the third as the Bees had to work hard to get the victory on Sunday afternoon.

It was a good start form the away side as they were camped in the Millwall half, looking to find the opener.

Katie Gilligan was first to try her luck and her deflected effort only just went wide of the goal.

Phillips was next to go close as she made a great run which saw her knock the ball past the goalkeeper but the resulting shot was cleared off the line.

Millwall Lionesses did have a big chance of their own as a looping corner caused trouble in the box and after a number of deflections, Makeba Black was able to smash the ball away off the line.

There were no goals in the first-half but the home side took the lead early in the second period as Ciara Watling reacted quickest to a cross into the box, sliding the ball into the net.

It did not take long for the Bees to to level the scores as Sangha struck from distance to grab her 10th goal of the season.

Cheatley drilled a good shot goalwards but Jessie Deans in the Millwall net made a great stop to deny the attacker.

The go-ahead goal from the away side came as Sangha steered in an accurate header from the edge of the box which creeped into the bottom corner of the net.

There was time for a third and it was Cheatley who reacted quickest to a loose ball before rounding the goalkeeper who had a great game for the home side.

That was how the match would end as the Bees closed out their season with a convincing victory.

The team have enjoyed what has been a promising season and they could still finish second. However, Dartford are the only side who can overtake the west Londoners and, with two games still to play, remain in a strong position to do so.
