Adam Forshaw reflected on Saturday’s win at Crawley Town, where his penalty goal five minutes into the game was enough to secure the three points.
“It was a tough game,” said Adam.
“We got the goal early, and then we didn’t really play our passing game that we can, because they crowded the midfield, and that made it tough for us, but the result’s the main thing.”
It was another successful penalty strike for Adam, who has now scored three goals this season, matching his tally from last.
“I thought it was a definite foul,” said Adam.
“He’s got really quick feet, he’s took the man on, and he’s whipped him over.
“I knew before the game I was the penalty taker.
“So before the game I’ve ran through my head what I’ll do if I get a penalty.
“The last two I’ve taken I’ve gone down the middle, so I knew I had to change it up this time, and luckily enough it went in.”
Crawley’s change of formation in the second period tested Brentford, but they coped with everything that was thrown at them.
“We knew they would eventually put a second striker on, which would free up the midfield a little bit,” said Adam.
“They were dominant by then but that’s only natural at that time of the game, they’re at home, they’re going to push, so I think he held on well, and got a great result.”
The result gives Brentford their fourth successive victory, with the midfielder insisting that the run of three losses prior were down to the fine margin between success and failure.
“I don’t think there was much going wrong,” said Adam.
“It was maybe little errors, or the ball wasn’t falling for us, but we all believed what we could do, and I don’t think we got too down about it.”
