Brentford Under-18s claimed all three points with a 5-2 victory against Reading Under-18s in the U18 Premier League at Bearwood Park on Saturday morning.
Jai Bansoodeb’s brace inspired the young Bees to a dominant performance against the Royals, with Coran Madden, Nedved Owusu and Harry Biggs also finding the net for Gary McDermott’s side.
Madden gave the young Bees an early lead, latching on to a pass from Owusu before finding the back of the net. Jai Nwosu was next to threaten, forcing Franky Rose into a strong parry from his long-range effort, while Madden remained alert in anticipation of any rebound. The visitors continued to dominate proceedings and came close to a superb team goal. Slick interchanges in midfield allowed Madden to find space in the final third, and he slipped in Owusu, only for Rose to make himself big and produce an excellent save to deny the winger. The Bees doubled their advantage on 20 minutes through a well-worked move. An incisive pass found Nwosu, who showed great composure to square the ball across goal for Owusu to tap into an empty net. The third goal soon followed, as Bansoodeb displayed quick feet to beat his marker inside the box before firing confidently into the roof of the net. Reading had a big chance to pull one back from the penalty spot through Jeremiah Berkeley-Agyepong, but the winger blazed his effort over the crossbar. Berkeley-Agyepong did make amends, however, finding the net with a strike from the edge of the box that beat Felix Lyon at his near post.
Biggs restored the west Londoners' three-goal advantage as he rose highest to power in a header from a corner.
The second period followed a similar rhythm and it did not take long for McDermott's side to score their fifth. Madden and Bansoodeb combined on the edge of the box as the latter calmly slotted past Rose to get his second of the game.
Reading then won their second penalty of the game but a different taker produced the same result, as Jayden McDonald was also unsuccessful. Lyon made an impressive stop to deny the striker.
The Royals did manage to score their second, though, as a header from a corner managed to find its way into the net following a goalmouth scramble late in the game.
That was how the game would end as Brentford secured all three points. The side now sit on 12 points in the U18 PL after seven games.
The young Bees are next in action on Saturday 24 October when they take on Fulham at Wheatsheaf Park in a west London derby.
