Aaron Green said Brentford’s Development Squad were in need of a win.
The Bees were beaten 4-1 by Sheffield United away from home in an Under-21 Professional Development League Two match on Monday.
They had levelled when Josh Clarke scored in the second half, after falling behind in the first period, but conceded three late goals to lose.
Aaron, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said he did not think The Bees were playing badly but one win from five league games was getting to the players.
“It is a bit depressing at the moment,” said the left back.
“We set up for games and we do well, I don’t think we are performing badly, but we get the wrong result.
“We are down there in the league and it is getting to us.
“We need to win and go from there.”
Aaron said Brentford played in to Sheffield United’s hands.
The home side set up to play deep and hit The Bees on the counter and made it work.
The home side went ahead in the first half when Ben Whiteman scored direct from a corner but Clarke equalised.
The Bees looked to have the initiative but Diego De Girolamo scored a hat-trick to win the game.
The Sheffield United striker turned home a cross from close range, and then reacted quickest after Brentford goalkeeper Nik Tzanev scrambled back to keep out a Raphaël Calvet header.
The crucial fourth goal came when De Girolamo tapped home after Tzanev had made a low save.
“We played in to their hands a bit,” said Aaron.
“They counter attack quickly and get men up the field.
“They did that.
“When we got forward they broke.
“They played their game well and, in defence, it felt like there were so many men on top of us.
“We had chances though and didn’t take them.
“They have countered us and scored.
“We conceded sloppy goals.”
Aaron said he felt Brentford had the initiative when they levelled.
“When Josh scored I felt we would win,” he said.
“It was our game.
“When we concede goals like that it kills the team.
“We have to pick up second balls better, two goals have come off the keeper and we have to react.
“One of them was down to me but we need to get tighter.”
Aaron said he felt a draw would have been fair on the balance of play.
“I think the result was harsh, it wasn’t a 4-1 game,” he said.
“A draw would have been a fair result, in my opinion.
“We kept the ball really well and going forward we did look good but the final moments, not scoring and then conceding at the other end.”
Aaron is in his first season as a Brentford player.
He spent time on trial last season and in pre-season and signed a one-year contract in the summer.
Aaron had been with Skrill South Chelmsford City and working at a dentist before turning professional.
He said training every day was brilliant.
“I am loving everyday life as a professional footballer,” said Aaron.
“Coming in to training is brilliant, much better than what I was doing before.
“The results are unfortunate but they will turn around.
“It is nice to train, be with the lads and play football every day.
“It is hard to lose and then take positives, when we start winning it will be better.”
