The attacker picked up the award after scoring six goals in as many games during the month. He began with a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic before scoring the penalty which kick-started our comeback victory over Charlton Athletic. His third appearance of the month saw another two goals netted against Derby County, the second of which was voted our July Goal of the Month.

Said beat Wigan Athletic's Kieran Dowell, Adam Armstrong of Blackburn Rovers, and Stoke City defender Danny Batth to the prize.

Speaking about his award, Said said: "I am really happy to win this award and that my performances helped the team to finish the season so strongly. There is a really good spirit in the group at Brentford and that helps me to play my best. I must also thank Thomas Frank for the trust and confidence he places in me. Hopefully we can now go and finish the season off in style.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Six goals in three games set the tone for Said Benrahma in July. The Brentford man bagged a wonderful hat-trick against Wigan, and his enthusiasm seemed to run through the rest of the team as they impressively extended a winning run to 8 games in the final month of the season.

“Although just falling short of automatic promotion, the Bees were a joy to watch at the business end of the campaign, and it was this Algerian playmaker who was very much the focal point of everything Thomas Frank’s team did well.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “Benrahma has been outstanding all season long and the Brentford winger’s six July goals took his tally to 17 for the season. Brentford hit the ground running after lockdown, winning seven games straight and looked destined to go up automatically having traded as short as 2/7 after West Brom lost at Huddersfield, but Benrahma and his teammates spectacularly fluffed their lines in the last two games and had to settle for a Play-Off berth instead.

“Brentford were 7/2 to be promoted before the season started and that looks a real possibility with a Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley on the horizon. After turning around the first leg result on Wednesday night, Brentford will be our 4/6 favourites to win promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
