Ollie Shield, a versatile and hard-working defender, joined the Bees from Southampton in the summer of 2023.

Ollie began his footballing journey at Total Pro Soccer before advancing through Southampton’s development phase, where he developed alongside his twin brother before they went their separate ways.

Shield joined the club as a wide-forward but has since adapted and grown into a new position at full-back, where he offers defensive solidity coupled with attacking threat.

His work ethic is second to none, which was evident when he captained Brentford Under-18s during the 2023/24 FA Youth Cup and earned the Under-18 Player of the Year award.

Ollie’s excellent first scholarship year saw him promoted to the B team at 17 years old and has trained with the first team on multiple occasions at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre.

Across the 2024/25 campaign, Ollie made 38 appearances for Brentford B (15 of those coming from the bench), and described the season as a learning experience as he settled into the step up from the Under-18s: “Overall it’s been an enjoyable season but a different one because I’ve had to learn the skill of being patient and taking my opportunity when it comes.’

He registered three assists across the campaign, two of those coming in an excellent display in the London Senior Cup semi-final against Barking at Wheatsheaf Park.
