A versatile defender, Ollie Shield made the move to west London in the summer of 2023.

Shield signed a two-year scholarship alongside a cohort of new Under-18 players as Brentford re-introduced its Academy, having previously been a part of Southampton's Academy.

His first season in west London was a successful one, Shield being awarded the U18s Player of the Season award.

His form was rewarded as the following season he made the step-up to the B team set-up, playing his role as the side made the Premier League Cup final and won the Under-21s Professional Development League national title.

After signing his first professional contact ahead of the 2025/26 season, Shield became a regular start for the B team, playing predominantly down the right side.

Shield had a standout 25/26 campaign which saw his hard work for the B team recognised by the first team, who he trained with regularly, and featured in numerous matchday squads for Keith Andrews’ side.

The versatile full-back scored an excellent volley against west London rivals QPR, and also bagged at Gtech Community Stadium against Fleetwood Town.

His three goals and 11 assists, coupled with his mentality and work-ethic saw him win the Mary Halder award at the end of the season.
