Michael Olakigbe joined Brentford B in the summer of 2022 from west London neighbours Fulham.
Olakigbe, who is an England international at youth level, joined having been a part of the youth set up at Craven Cottage since 2018 as he went on to feature for the club’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides. He was also part of the youth set-up at Queens Park Rangers before heading to Fulham in the summer of 2018.
Olakigbe made his first team debut for Brentford in August 2023, starting in an EFL Cup victory over Newport County. He then proceeded to make 11 appearances off the bench in the first half of the season, making his Premier League debut in September against AFC Bournemouth.
Olakigbe also appeared nine times during the B team's 2022/23 Premier League Cup winning campaign.
In November 2023, Olakigbe signed a new contract with the Bees extending his stay with the west Londoners until 2028 with a club option of one additional year.
In the 2024/25 season, Olakigbe was loaned out twice, first to Wigan in Sky Bet League One, before being recalled in January.
He was then loaned to Chesterfield where he scored twice in 17 appearances for the Spireites in the second half of the campaign, ending in a Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final defeat.
Olakigbe returned to the young Bees at the end of the season and started in the Professional Development League national final victory over AFC Bournemouth.
He scored his first goal of the 2025/26 campaign in a 3-0 away victory against Crewe Alexandra in the Professional Development League, a game in which he also registered an excellent assist.
