Manu Sotelo was appointed first team goalkeeping coach at Brentford in August 2020.
In his first season in the role, he was part of the coaching staff that led the Bees to promotion to the Premier League for the first time with a 2-0 win against Swansea City at Wembley Stadium.
Sotelo, a UEFA A Licensed coach who has also earned the Spanish FA Goalkeeper Coach qualification, started his coaching career in the Spanish third tier with Alondras Club de Fútbol, where he worked with the youth teams before taking over as first team goalkeeper coach.
After spells at Sociedad Deportiva Negreira and Cruceiro do Hío Football Club, he moved to Celta Vigo, where he spent five years, working initially with the Under-19s side.
Sotelo was assistant first team coach and academy goalkeeper coach in his final season at Celta. He then moved on to Deportivo La Coruña, where he spent the next five years as goalkeeper coach.
He was with the club when they won promotion to the Spanish top tier in 2013 and established themselves back at that level for the next five years.
Sotelo left Deportivo in 2018 and had spells at Nottingham Forest and in Qatar before moving to west London.
