Layton Nicholls joined the club from Liverpool, becoming one of two goalkeepers to step up into the Under-18s as scholars ahead of the 2025/26 season.

A lively presence around the Robert Rowan Performance Centre, Nicholls impressed on trial before joining in 2025.

He joined Gary McDermott's U18s alongside 11 other new scholars.

A goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and is developing into a reliable shot-stopper, Nicholls picked up an assist during the 2025/26 season.

He also started for the Bees in their 4-0 Under-17s Professional Development League Shield win over Bolton Wanderers at Wheatsheaf Park.
