Kirsty Matthews is a composed and athletic presence on the pitch for Brentford Women’s First team.

Kirsty began her footballing journey with Maidenhead FC, playing for both boys’ and girls’ teams before progressing to Reading FC Academy. There, she developed her skills and earned her place with Reading FC Women, where she made her senior debut and scored in her first appearance.

Her footballing career continued with Nottingham Forest, and after five successful years, Kirsty joined Brentford FC. One of her standout moments in a Brentford shirt came at the Gtech Community Stadium, where she scored twice in front of passionate fans. Alongside her club achievements, Kirsty has also represented Scotland, an honour that stands as a highlight of her career.

Off the pitch, Kirsty balances her role as a Project Manager in the pharmaceutical industry, drawing parallels between her work in healthcare and the discipline required in football. She believes the two roles complement each other, teaching her valuable skills both on and off the field.

For the 2024 season, Kirsty has set her sights on helping Brentford secure promotion, while personally aiming to inspire the next generation of young footballers. Her advice to aspiring players? "Continue to work hard both on and off the pitch. Grasp every opportunity that comes your way." With the rapid growth of women’s football, Kirsty is excited about the future and hopes to play a key role in Brentford’s continued rise in the women’s game.
