Gregory Asemokhai joined Brentford’s U18s from the ECA Academy, an institution dedicated to nurturing young talent for careers in professional football.
With a towering presence and a composed, physical style, Gregory quickly made an impression, recently taking on the role of captain and becoming a true leader on the pitch.
Gregory’s football journey began in grassroots before joining the ECA Academy, which further refined his game and prepared him for the competitive environment at Brentford. Since then, he has made strides, with one of his proudest moments being Brentford’s Merit League 2 title win, where his influence was felt across the team. This season, he’s set his sights on dominating more aerial duels and increasing his scoring impact from set pieces.
When it comes to game day rituals, Gregory finds motivation listening to Rod Wave. His dream five-a-side lineup includes a blend of defensive and creative stars: Manuel Neuer, Sergio Ramos, Yaya Toure, Lionel Messi, and Eden Hazard. Gregory sees himself embodying the balance between strength and skill that defines these idols.
Training alongside Brentford’s first team at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre has been transformative, with the constant intensity teaching him to keep his standards high. He credits Brentford’s coaches for helping him become more composed under pressure and a more rounded defender. Gregory’s leadership qualities and strong physical presence have already set him apart, and he hopes to one day bring these qualities to the first team, where his determination and discipline can shine even brighter.
