Ashley Hay joined Brentford B on deadline day in the summer of 2023, making the move from Southern Premier Division Central side Hitchin Town. His arrival at Brentford followed a standout season with Hitchin during the 2022/23 campaign, where he netted 11 goals.
Ashley’s football journey began with Letchworth Eagles as a junior before he joined Luton Town’s academy. He further developed his skills at Baldock Town and Biggleswade Town, before moving to Hitchin. His impressive performances there earned him the opportunity to join Brentford B.
A forward with a flair for making an impact, Ashley’s dream five-a-side team includes football stars Thierry Henry, Kylian Mbappé, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Ramos and himself. His playing style is described by his teammates as quick, aggressive, and passionate. Before matches, he listens to Afro beats and has chosen Juicy by The Notorious B.I.G. for his initiation song.
Ashley’s proudest football moment was playing at the GTech in front of his friends and family. Reflecting on his time at Brentford FC, he cherishes the experience of performing in such a significant venue. His goal for the current season is to be the top goal scorer once again.
His parents have been the biggest influence on his development as a footballer, and he feels privileged to train alongside the first-team players at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre. This experience has been surreal yet enjoyable, and he values the supportive environment that helps him improve. Since joining Brentford, Ashley feels his game has grown considerably, particularly in terms of confidence and fitness. Looking to the future, Ashley believes his aerial ability and pace will be valuable assets to the team.
