Brentford’s Youth Team will return from their pre-season trip to Portugal with a trophy to show for their efforts.
Brentford’s Under-18 squad are in Portugal as part of their preparations for the 2015/16 season.
They are staying in Villamoura and getting ready for the upcoming season with warm-weather training and a tournament.
After a 5-0 win over Sporting Club Olhanense last weekend, The Bees beat Sheffield Wednesday in the final of the four-team tournament.
The match was played in warm conditions on Wednesday evening, 22 July, and The Bees picked up a 1-0 win.
Courtney Austin won a penalty and then converted it to seal victory.
It ended a fine trip for Brentford, who also drew 3-3 with Portimonense in a friendly.
Jon De Souza, Youth Team Manager, said: “It was a very pleasing performance, especially fitness wise, against a Sheffield Wednesday side that included several Under-19 players. The intensity of our play, especially out of possession was very pleasing.
“Overall I have been very pleased with the trip and the efforts of the players. We have pushed them to their limits, especially physically and mentally. Some players have excelled, some have struggled, but it has allowed us to get to know the players in all aspects very well.”
The Youth Team trip to Portugal has been paid for by funding supplied under the Erasmus Plus initiative.
