Brentford Women’s First Team will look to replicate last weekend’s win as they come up against Richmond Park in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday at The Beveree Stadium in a 2pm kick-off.
Head Coach Karleigh Osborne is eager for his side to end the year positively as they travel to Richmond this weekend.
He said: “Sunday is an opportunity to get another run of good form going again, I was impressed with our performance last weekend, especially in the first half so hopefully I see more of the same from the players.
“We showed our experience to see out the second half after getting our four goals which showed me, we are going in the right direction as a team.”
The First Team currently sit top of the league table with 19 points, but Osborne still believes his side is able to go up a gear.
“I would like to see a little more intensity from the girls, we play some great football at times, but I still think we could be slightly more aggressive.
“We have a really good team and some very technically gifted players so I’m expecting a strong display against Richmond.”
First Team attacker, Kirsty Matthews is confident in her side's chances of leaving The Beveree Stadium with all three points.
Speaking on the game, Matthews explained: “Last weekend was a great performance from us, and I believe we will be able to bring that into Sunday’s game and keep building from this in the new year.”
Our B Team also play their final game of 2022 on Sunday as they face Actonians Thirds at Bedfont Sports Club in a 3pm kick-off.
Another amazing performance from the title challengers last weekend saw them put seven goals past Forest Crusaders as they left Bedfont Sports Club 7-2 winners.
The B Team will be hoping to extend their winning run to five consecutive games with Head Coach, Tommy Ryan-Maynard excited about the prospect of his side ending the year on a high.
He said: “We came up against Actonians on the first game of the season and beat them 5-0 which is a confidence boost to take into Sunday. We’re aware that they would have made some improvements since then so I’m expecting the girls to be prepared to play a good team.
“I believe that the players understand how good they have been in recent weeks so it’s mine and Charlotte's job to keep them grounded and make sure they prepare in the best way possible.”
B Team goalkeeper, Sophie Boycott reflects on the feeling within the dressing room following her side's fine run of form.
The number one said: “The atmosphere in the changing room is so dynamic at the moment, everyone is always extremely focused on getting the job done before a game.”
Ryan-Maynard continued: “I have to admit it's been really exciting as Head Coach to see how the team have been playing in recent weeks, I’m buzzing for them.
“It’s now just about continuing this, we had success last year winning the Cup so we want more of that this season.”
