Brentford Women’s First Team will hope to extend their unbeaten run to eight consecutive games as they come up against title rivals Dorking Wanderers in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday at Bedfont Sports Club in a 3pm kick-off.
The Bees go into the game in great form having not lost since the start of October but will be out for redemption after previously losing to Sunday’s visitors at the beginning of the season.
Head Coach, Karleigh Osborne is looking for his players to set the record straight and use the defeat to Dorking in August as motivation for his side to get their own back.
He said: “We’re going into the match in good form, I feel we are in a better place now than when we last played them.
“I will be using that loss to put some fire into the players to make sure they are up for the game on Sunday.”
The First Team currently sit top of the league table with Dorking in third but with three games in hand, meaning a win for either team will be massive in terms of promotion.
Speaking on Dorking, Osborne explained: “They are a good side who are very well drilled so it’s going to be a big test, we need to make sure we are at it right from the first whistle, I think starting well will be very important.
“We have a fantastic group of players who are young and still developing but I have so much belief in them so our form at the moment doesn’t surprise me.
“Despite how well we have been playing I believe we still haven’t reached our peak yet so hopefully I can see that on Sunday.”
First Team winger, Nikki Saunders feels a win on Sunday massively boosts her team’s chances of gaining promotion.
Our B Team are also at home on Sunday as they face Hackney Reserves on the grass pitches in a 2pm kick-off.
After their brilliant result in the Capital Cup last weekend beating Ruislip Rangers 3-2, the home side will look forward to competing in the JGMT Cup on Sunday.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash, B Team Assistant Head Coach, Charlotte Tanner said: “It was a fantastic win last weekend, the maturity the players showed was excellent so I’m hoping to see more of the same against Hackney.
“It will be a tough game we know them very well and have played them many times and it's never easy but if we stick to our game plan, I’m confident we will get the win.”
B Team’s number 18, Cheyenne Faulkner believes training sessions play a big part in her side’s success on the weekends.
Tanner continued: “Recently we have been doing all the right things so I’m hoping we can continue this against Hackney.”
