Brentford Women’s First Team will look to bounce back after their impressive seven-game unbeaten run was ended last weekend, the Bees will look to revive their promotion hopes as they face Leatherhead Women in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday at Fetcham Grove in a 1pm kick-off.
Head Coach Karleigh Osborne is looking for a quick reaction from his players as they travel to South London this weekend.
He said: “Obviously we didn’t get the result we wanted against Dorking but it’s about picking the players up now and getting back to how we know we can play.
“Anything can happen in this league, so we just need to concentrate on winning games.”
The First Team currently sit second in the league table and will be firm favourites heading into Sunday’s game against Leatherhead who are in seventh place.
Despite this, Osborne feels his team will need to be at the top of their game to overcome the opposition.
Speaking on Leatherhead, Osborne explained: “It’s another challenge for us, there is never an easy game in this division, so I expect the girls to be switched on right from the off.
“Although our unbeaten run has ended, I have full belief in the players’ mindsets to use this as motivation to drive on and pick up another run of wins.
“We need to make sure we apply ourselves correctly and prepare well now, as the momentum has slightly been taken away from us.”
First Team midfielder, Jodie Reid is adamant that the feel-good feeling that remains within the changing room will help the Bees come back stronger on Sunday.
Our B Team return to league action on Sunday as they come up against Forest Crusaders Women at Bedfont Sports Club in a 3pm kick-off.
Following their dominant 5-1 win over Hackney Reserves in the JGMT Cup last weekend, the B Team will be itching to return to the league where they are battling for promotion themselves.
With the opportunity to extend their winning streak to four games Manager, Tommy Ryan-Maynard cannot wait to see his team back in action.
He said: “Confidence is sky high for us at the moment, I was really pleased with our performance last weekend, even after going a goal down everyone still believed we were always going to win that game which just shows the belief within the squad.
“We’ve had a few runs of good results this season, but they haven’t been sustained so far, it would be nice for us to continue the form we are in for a longer period which could really help us when we get towards the end of the season."
B Team’s number 22 Chelsey Logan, insists her, and her teammates only have one goal in mind come to the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Ryan-Maynard continued: “We have played Forest Crusaders before so we are aware of the qualities they will bring.
“If we continue showing the same commitment we have been in recent weeks, I back the players to get all three points.”
