Brentford Women’s First Team face Hackney Women in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday in a 2pm kick-off.
After their draw to Sport London E Benfica last weekend, the Bees First Team are now three games unbeaten with Manager, Karleigh Osborne looking for his side to continue this impressive run against Hackney.
Speaking on Sunday’s match, Osborne said: “I was slightly disappointed that we didn’t leave with all three points last weekend, but we need to focus on the challenge in front of us now.
“I want us to become a team that is solid in all areas, and I believe I'm starting to see that from the girls, I’m looking for us to continue our unbeaten run and to control all aspects of the game on Sunday."
The First Team found themselves a goal down at half-time against Sport London E Benfica and despite controlling possession, they lacked creativity in the final third for long periods.
Osborne continued: “I would like to see us have more of a cutting edge in the attacking areas, sometimes it’s just the final ball that prevents us from scoring and this is something we have been working on in training.
“In the last few games, we have dominated possession and played some great football which is good to see, but it’s also important that we don’t switch off and lose concentration which can happen at times because you can get punished in this league no matter who you are playing.”
The First Team's opposition have had a troublesome campaign, currently sitting one position above the relegation zone in the league table. Osborne expressed the importance of putting Hackney on the back foot right from the off, in hopes of unsettling the visitors early.
“It’s definitely important that we start strongly on Sunday, I don’t want Hackney to build any momentum in the game, they are struggling this season and are potentially low on confidence, so we need to show aggression and be on top from the first whistle.
Our B Team will look to go top in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North as they take on league leaders Leyton Orient at Whitbread Sports Ground on Sunday in a 2pm kick off.
After the 8-0 domination of Luton Town Reserves in their last outing, the B Team are going into this weekend’s top of the table clash with all the confidence they need, in what is sure to be a mouth-watering spectacle between two of the top teams in the division.
Ahead of the Leyton Orient clash, B Team manager, Tommy Ryan-Maynard said: “I can’t wait to watch the girls play again, it’s going to be a great game on Sunday between two strong teams.
“We’ve been working hard in training so I feel we have done what we can in terms of preparation, I was very pleased with our performance against Luton it was hard to find any negatives but if I was being extra critical, I would say we could have put anyway more of our chances.
“Sunday will be a tough challenge but I back this team to put on a good performance and to give it their all, I can’t ask for much more than that.”
