Brentford Women will travel to South London on Sunday afternoon as they take on AFC Whyteleafe in the LSE Regional Women’s Football League Division One North at Church Road in a 3:30pm kick-off.
The Bees may need to win their two remaining games and hope Dorking Wanderers slip up if they are to claim the league title and promotion into the Premier Division with head coach Karleigh Osborne feeling that three points against Whyteleafe will be a step in the right direction.
He said: “We have to keep winning if we want to remain within a chance of claiming the league title, we obviously need Dorking to drop points but I just want us to remain focused on ourselves.
“Whyteleafe are a tough side and have picked up some good results this season so we will need to make sure we are at it from the off because it’s not going to be an easy game against them.”
Dorking have now played their two games in hand over the women’s first team and sit top of the league one point ahead of the Bees on 39 points.
Osborne went on to explain how he feels the battle with Dorking during this campaign will benefit his side in seasons to come as they look to climb up the divisions.
“I’m proud of this team no matter what the outcome is at the end of the season because we have been in and around the top of the table the whole campaign.
“We have had a great battle with Dorking who are a top side and they have pushed us all the way which is great because we have had to play at the top of our game because of them every single week.”
Last time we met
It was a dominant performance from the Bees in the last meeting with Whyteleafe back in September. A Chloe Logie double along with an excellent strike from Kirsty Matthews saw the women’s first team make a positive start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win at Bedfont Sports Club.
