On 31 July the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust entered Ride London for the third consecutive year. A team of 27, including Brentford FCCST staff members and partners, completed the ride, raising more than £8,200 for the Trust and the work that they do in the local community.
To help raise further funds a special piece of memorabilia will be raffled off at an upcoming Brentford home game: a brand new Specialized pro cycling helmet belonging to one of our 100 mile riders, Tomas Abreu. Tomas, the Trust's Business Support Officer completed the 100 miles in 6 hours and 35 minutes. Not only will the helmet be signed by our ‘future Olympic cyclist’, but also the entire Brentford FC first team.
“I was employed as a direct result of the money raised at Ride London last year, so I felt that it was a good opportunity to give something back," said Tomas. "The crowds on the day were amazing throughout the course. It has given me the bug for cycling and I am now looking at other events to take part in."
Lee Doyle, the Trust's CEO said: "Fundraising is a major source of income for the Trust, and creates the opportunity to not only deliver our existing projects, but also to continue to grow. I would like to thank all of the riders and sponsors who made the event the success it was – we are aiming to raise over £15,000.’’
