Six goals in seven games was not enough to win Will Grigg the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award.
Will – on loan at Milton Keynes Dons – was nominated for the prize but missed out when it was the winner was announced this morning, Friday May 1.
Instead Jermaine Beckford, of Preston North End, won the award for scoring five goals, all of which earned additional points for the Lancashire side.
Will, 23, has spent the season on loan at MK Dons.
He has scored 21 goals in 49 games in all competitions for the Buckinghamshire side including nine in his last 11 games.
At the MK Dons’ awards ceremony – held on Tuesday, April 28 – Will picked up a prize for top goal scorer and also won their Goal of the Season prize for a strike in a Capital One Cup win over Manchester United.
MK are third in League One going in to the final day of the season.
They face already relegated Yeovil Town at home on Sunday, May 3, while Preston, who are a point ahead in second, face Colchester United, who need the points to avoid the drop.
