Alan Judge said the four-day break given to the Brentford squad ahead of the start of preparations for the match against Wigan Athletic was much needed.
The Bees face Wigan at the DW Stadium tomorrow, Saturday October 17.
The squad has been preparing for the match all week but had four days off last weekend while international fixtures were being played and there were no Sky Bet Championship games.
Alan, speaking to Bees Player earlier this week, said a few players were tired after Brentford’s last match, a win against Reading, and training since the break had been good.
“It was well-needed,” he said, discussing the rest.
“A few of the lads, myself included, were feeling a bit tired at the end of the game against Reading.
“It was obviously going to happen.
“The break came at a good time, the lads needed it and training has been good since we have come back.
“It is good to have a week to prepare for the game against Wigan.”
Brentford are currently tenth in the table with 17 points from their first 11 games.
The Bees are only four points off the top while Wigan are 21st in the Sky Bet Championship.
Alan said Wigan were in a false position and although former Brentford boss Uwe Rösler and midfield player Adam Forshaw were facing The Bees on Saturday it was just another match.
“Wigan are in a false position, given how big the club is,” he said.
“It is a game we think we can get something out of.
“But we are doing what we usually do in training.
“We don’t concentrate on the other team.
“It is just another game for us.
“We need to collect as many points as we can.
“I know there the old manager and old players but I don’t think we are thinking about that.
“We just want to do well.”
Alan said he hoped the match at Wigan would be a good game of football but didn’t know what the hoists would offer.
“I don’t know what to expect,” he said.
“They have changed formations once or twice.
“They go long sometimes and sometimes they pass it.
“It will be a mixture of a game.
“They have a nice pitch and we want it to be a good game of football.”
After facing Wigan Brentford host Sheffield Wednesday and then go to Bolton Wanderers during a busy seven days.
They then have matches against Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Millwall in a bust three-week period before the next international break.
“In the last block of six games we had four at home, now we have four away so this will be a tough test for us,” said Alan.
“We have Wigan, Sheffield Wednesday and then Bolton, back up north.
“The lads relish playing in the big stadiums, I think we are going to enjoy it.
“You always want to go in to a break on a win.
“It is good for morale.
“The mood in the camp is brilliant.
“The players are doing well and everyone gets on well.”
