Adam Forshaw pointed to missed chances after Brentford were held to a 0-0 draw by Walsall.
The Bees had the better of the game, particularly in the first half, but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
Adam said Brentford weren’t quite as sharp as normal but created enough to have won the game.
“It is definitely two points dropped,” said the midfield player, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“We had a lot of chances in the first half like we have done all season.
“It didn’t fall for us.
“In our general play we weren’t as sharp as we normally are.
“We didn’t play with the quickest of tempos.
“They were really pleased with a draw at the end.
“That shows credit to us.
“Teams are coming here and settling for draws.
“We need to make our home games count.
“We need to put our chances away.”
Brentford sit seventh in npower League One and are five points behind leaders Sheffield United, they also have at least one game in hand on every team above them.
Adam said the Brentford players were aware a run of wins would put them back to the very top of the table.
He said the focus was now on the trip to Sussex to play Crawley Town on Tuesday night.
“Before today there were four points separating seven teams at the top,” he said.
“We know a couple of wins will put us right back up there.
“We have to keep putting performances in and the results will come.
“This feels a bit like a loss because it is two points dropped but we can put it behind us on Tuesday.
“We have to focus on Crawley.”
Adam said Brentford would be able to go to Crawley and battle for the win if that was what was needed.
He added it may be easier for the team to play away from home as opposing sides were likely to be more attacking and therefore leave more space to play.
“We know we can mix it up if we have to,” said Adam.
“Hopefully our class will tell in the end.
“It might help us to play away.
“The games might be more open.
“If we can stay tight at the back we might have more chance to play and carve teams open.”
