Paul Hayes said the Brentford squad were aware they have won nothing yet and need to continue their good form if they are to end the 2012/13 season with promotion.
The Bees clinched their fourth straight win by beating Notts County at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
Brentford have climbed to second in npower League One after successive wins over high-flyers Swindon Town, Sheffield United, Milton Keynes Dons and Notts County.
Paul said there was a great mood in the camp and the players knew they had picked up “vital wins” but also that they needed plenty more.
“We are flying at the moment,” said the striker, when speaking to Bees Player on Monday.
“We have had good results in the last six weeks but it means nothing at the moment.
“The season is ten months long and we have to carry on doing what we are doing.
“You want to win as many games as you can but there will be times we go through a bad patch.
“The speed we can get out of a bad run will be the key to our season.
“It will be tough; there are a lot of games coming up, especially over Christmas and in to the New Year.
“We are in a good position and we need to push on.
“It has been a massive time for us.
“We have played teams around us and if they had beaten us, they would have been where we are and we would be mid-table.
“We have pushed on at the right time and got vital wins.
“We haven’t done anything yet and need to keep going for the next five months.”
Brentford are in action tonight, playing a match they did not think they would have to.
The Bees face Bradford City in an FA Cup with Budweiser Second Round Replay at Griffin Park.
The teams drew 1-1 in Yorkshire last month but Bradford were removed from the competition for fielding an ineligible player in that tie.
The Bantams, however, appealed and were reinstated, meaning they will travel to Griffin Park for the replay.
Paul said Brentford would deal with the scenario and the players knew it would be a tough game.
Bradford sit fifth in npower League Two and have not lost a cup tie this season.
They have reached the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern Section Semi-Final and beat Arsenal on penalties last week to reach the Capital One Cup Semi-Final.
“It was a new one for us,” said Paul.
“We knew there would be a replay but then they were thrown out and we thought we were through.
“The FA have put them back in and it’s another game.
“You have to adapt to the scenario.
“They are on a good run and have some big cup wins.
“It will be a tough game and we have to make sure we do well.
“They did well against Arsenal and got a result but would probably have only beaten them one in ten times.
“Every game is different.
“We are at home, we have a chance to go through and we have to make sure we do the business.
“All the big clubs are still in the competition and we have to make sure we stay in.
“We have to win the game, it will be tough.”
After the cup tie, Brentford welcome Stevenage to Griffin Park for a league game on Saturday and know they can go top of League One if results go their way.
“You look to get better and go up the league,” said Paul.
“We have a chance on Saturday to go top.
“It’s a big game.
“Stevenage have had a good run, they are there and thereabouts.
“We aren’t getting ahead of ourselves but we know there is the carrot of going top.”
Brentford are running a special promotion for the match with supporters able to pay whatever they are able to get a ticket for the match.
The ‘Pay What You Can’ scheme will see advance match tickets for Brentford fans sold at the price the supporter wants to pay with a minimum price for a ticket of just £1.
“It is great what the Club are doing,” said Paul.
“Around Christmas time, it is tight for money.
“Santa is coming and there are presents to buy for friends and family.
“You couldn’t get a better offer than this.
“Hopefully lots will come down.
“We are doing really well and hopefully we can carry that on with a big crowd behind us.
“I would love to see Griffin Park full and rocking.”
