Brentford Manager Mark Warburton said his players have learnt from their 4-0 defeat to Bradford City earlier in the season.
The teams meet again at Griffin Park tomorrow and Mark, speaking to Bees Player yesterday, admitted it was the most disappointing day of the 2013/14 season so far.
The game was level at 0-0 when Brentford goalkeeper David Button was sent off and Bradford took control.
They scored four times either side of half time as The Bees were well beaten.
Mark was Brentford Sporting Director on that day, three months before he replaced Uwe Rösler as Brentford Manager, and said it would have no impact on what happens tomorrow.
“We learnt from that game,” said Mark.
“The game changed when David Button was sent off.
“I watched the game from the stands and for me that was the most disappointing game of the season so far.
“We learnt from it and move forward.”
Bradford striker James Hanson scored two of Bradford’s four that day.
The centre forward plays a key role for Bradford as they look to play long balls up to him and work off the knock downs and Mark said his team were ready to “take responsibility and deal with it”.
Brentford have two home games coming up, against Bradford on Saturday and Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday, before facing Leyton Orient away from home next week.
The Bees are third in Sky Bet League One, one place behind Orient, after following up defeat to leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, their only league loss since mid-October, with a 0-0 draw against Carlisle United.
Mark said there were three points available for each game and his team were looking at them one at a time.
“We know about James Hanson, he is effective and a good player,” said the Brentford Manager.
“We know they look to play to him and pick up the bits.
“They have good players and good width.
“They will be a tough opponent and we have to prepare.
“With the centre forward we have to do our job and take responsibility and deal with it.
“I have been asked this week about stopping the rot and whether we need a striker.
“At Carlisle we needed to be more clinical but there is a responsibility on the midfield players too.
“They know that.
“We have two home games and then a game against Orient but it is three points every time.
“Our only focus now is Bradford, we want to put in a good performance and then focus on Tranmere.”
Mark said his players had enjoyed training this week and the pitches at the Club’s Training Ground were improving now there has been less rain falling.
He added Alan McCormack, who missed the game against Carlisle, was fit.
“The boys have enjoyed the week,” said Mark.
“The sun makes a big difference.
“On Tuesday we could do some proper work on a full size pitch for the first time in a long time.
“We have been using areas in recent week.
“They trained well this week.
“I am really pleased.
“There is a good attitude around the camp.
“Alan McCormack trained on Thursday and looked really sharp, he is ready.”
Brentford’s Development Squad were beaten by Charlton Athletic on Monday but Martin Fillo scored a hat-trick and Scott Barron also played.
Mark said he had heard good reports from the match and been impressed when he watched the DVD.
He added Toumani Diagouraga was doing well on loan at Portsmouth and letting players go out temporarily was a good way to get them game time.
“I got good feedback from the Development Squad game,” said Mark.
“Martin scored three very good goals, good finishes.
“Scott Barron came through after the injuries he has had.
“I am really pleased for them.
“Louis Hutton impressed and I heard Josh Clarke was very, very good.
“He got at his defender on both sides.
“The boys are doing well.
“Jake Reeves wanted to play but he is vital for us with Toumani out.
“Toumani is doing very well at Portsmouth, there may be questions as to why he is out on loan but there is no point having lots of players with no match time under their belt.
“We can only use three over-age players in the Under-21 games.
“We have to make sure everyone gets game time.”
Marcello Trotta scored for Italy’s Under-21 side this week and Raphaël Calvet played for France Under-20.
Mark said getting players in from abroad was a way of looking at alternative sources of talent.
“Marcelo is only 21,” he said.
“He has done really well, he played 32 minutes I believe, he impressed and he scored near the end.
“He is doing well.
“He is back and happy and preparing for the next two games.
“Our aim is to get a higher quality of player; we have to push the boundaries in terms of player recruitment.
“Raphaël is established at Under-20 level, he played 45 minutes and I am pleased.”
Mark said his team were entering a busy run in terms of games.
He said there were players out on loan getting match time and game sharpness ready for them to return and play a part.
“We have Charlie Adams out at Barnet and he is impressing,” said Mark.
“Players go out on loan to get game time.
“We have to be fair to them if they aren’t going to figure.
“There is no point them being here as 19th or 20th man.
“Hopefully they can come back when required.
“We now have seven games in a month.
“We have to have a squad of players ready.
“There will be changes in that run.
“It is always about the team.
“We have had great reports about Toumani; he can come back fit and ready to impress.
“If we need to call on a player we want them to be match sharp.
“We have to get the balance right; Jake Reeves is still here and is training well.”
