Ivan Toney believes he showed what he’s capable of during our 5-2 victory over Leeds United.

The Brentford striker scored a hattrick at the Gtech Community Stadium; the first a trademark penalty, the second a quite magnificent free-kick and the third a brilliant chip from outside the area.

“I think I showed what I’m capable of,” Ivan told us during a stroll down the touchline.

“The penalty, I try my best to compose myself and put it in the back of the net and I did that.

“The free-kick, I’ve been practicing them in training. All the boys have been getting on to me. I think we’ve lost six or seven balls from me skying them! When it mattered on the pitch, I put it in the back of the net. That’s what I’m here to do.

“The third one, I think there was about 20,000 screaming shoot! You’ve got to compose yourself in those positions and thankfully I chipped it into the back of the net. You’ve got to relax and shoot when the time is right.”

Ivan also explained the celebration after his first goal, which was his 50th in Brentford colours.

“There’s a baby on the way! I forgot to do it for my last celebration [at Fulham] so I’m glad I did it today.”

We've scored 15 goals during our first six games of the Premier League season; a tally only bettered by Manchester City. Ivan believes that squad depth has been key to such impressive attacking numbers.

“It’s down to hard work and everybody being ready to come off the bench and contribute to the team.

“You saw that with [Yoane] Wissa getting on the scoresheet again. Full praise for him; he’s always ready to come on and make a difference.”
