Marcello Trotta said scoring the winning goal for Brentford against Shrewsbury Town was “a very good feeling”.
The striker volleyed home a Kadeem Harris cross 16 minutes in to give The Bees the lead and it proved to be the winning goal.
Marcello was involved in the build-up and said the goal came from good team play.
“The winning goal makes you happier,” said the striker, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“It is a very good feeling.
“I don’t remember too much about it, just the finish.
“There was good team play and I finished from Kadeem’s cross.
“It was very good.”
Marcello said the ball put in by Kadeem Harris was great for a striker.
He said the wide man, who arrived on loan from Cardiff City last week, had made a difference.
“Kadeem has helped us a lot,” said Marcello.
“He goes down the line and crosses the ball.
“When you get low ones like today, it is good.
“It is hard to defender.
“We want those sorts of balls.
“It is good for the strikers.”
Brentford dominated the first half and could have put the game to bed before half time.
They only scored once and Shrewsbury came back in to the game after half time.
They did not, however, overly test David Button in the Brentford goal.
“I think we played really well,” said Marcello.
“We are playing more.
“We had a tough time in the middle of the game but came out well.
“We had a few good chances to score.
“If we had put more away it would have been easier at the end.
“The three points was most important.
“We all did really well.
“I don’t think they had any good chances.
“The defenders did well.”
The win was Brentford’s third in a week following victories over Colchester United and Bristol City.
Marcello scored in the Colchester win as Brentford came from 1-0 down to win 3-1 and came off the substitute’s bench with The Bees drawing 0-0 at Bristol City in a game they eventually won 2-1.
Marcello said he felt The Bees were building a momentum.
The striker likened the run to one put together by Brentford last season when they went from mid-table to the promotion race in autumn, just as he joined on loan for Fulham.
Marcello, in his second loan spell from Fulham, said confidence was growing.
“Last week we showed our character to come back from 1-0 down and won 3-1 at the end,” he said.
“This week we got an early goal and that gave us a lift.
“It was very good.
“We are starting to gain more confidence.
“We are getting momentum and we want to keep going.
“When I came last year we had a momentum and we kept it going really well until around January.
“Now we are just building it.
“Hopefully we can keep that run going for a long time and see where we are.
“We have showed how strong we are.
“We have a big squad and players can come in and do well.
“This is very important for us.
“We want to win as many games as we can and we have to keep that as our main focus.”
