Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said he was proud of his players for the way they earned a point in a 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves started the afternoon top of Sky Bet League One but The Bees made it seven without defeat with the draw at Molineux Stadium
Uwe, speaking after the match, said the home side started well but Brentford had chances on the counter-attack in the first half.
He said he made a tactical alteration at the break, to be more compact, and restricted Wolves.
Uwe said a draw was a fair result.
“I am very proud of the players,” said the Brentford Manager.
“They dug in.
“In the first ten to 15 minutes their tempo took us a little bit.
“They were better and had the momentum.
“We were offensive and pressed them high and we had the better chances in the first half.
“We had very good counter-attacks and opportunities.
“In the second half we were more compact; we didn’t press as high as we did in the first half.
“They were running out of ideas.
“We had one or two good chances in the end.
“Overall it was a fair point and we earned it.”
Uwe said he may have set his team up too attacking in the early stages.
He said he encouraged Adam Forshaw and George Saville to push on and that left the third of the trio, Jonathan Douglas, with a lot of ground to cover.
Uwe explained there was too much space for Wolves’ wide players in the first half and that is why he made his team more compact after the break, pulling wide attackers Clayton Donaldson and Kadeem Harris slightly deeper.
The Brentford Manager said he was happy with his team both individually and collectively.
“I was probably, in the beginning, too offensive,” said Uwe.
“We wanted to have a go at them, there were gaps and it was difficult for Jonathan Douglas to cover the whole pitch.
“Adam Forshaw and George Saville were pushed on.
“There were a lot of balls that dropped that they picked up and ran at our back four.
“The whole team dug in after half time.
“In general I am very happy.
“I am very happy with individual performances but also with the team.
“There was too much room on the flanks in the first half.
“They picked up second balls.
“Clayton Donaldson and Kadeem Harris started deeper in the second half and allowed their full backs to get on the ball but that didn’t hurt us.
“We pressured them in the centre circle and looked comfortable.”
Uwe praised referee Michael Naylor for a strong performance.
He also hailed more than 2,000 Brentford fans that made the trip to Molineux.
“There was fantastic support,” said Uwe.
“It is fantastic to see how many people follow us away from home and really believe that we can do something at Wolves.”
Brentford’s next match is against Peterborough United on Tuesday.
The Bees are one point and one place behind Peterborough, who are third.
Peterborough have lost their last four League One games and Uwe saw one of those losses, against Walsall.
Brentford also lost to them in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie in October.
“I saw Peterborough against Walsall,” said Uwe.
“We played them in the JPT when they had nine of their first XI in.
“They have Lee Tomlin back after suspension, which is a plus for them.
“We are at home and we will focus on ourselves.
“I am confident but we have to make sure we recover.
“We play an energetic game with a lot of running and pressing and I wish the players do the right things from now until Tuesday to give us the best chance to win the game.”
