Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler hailed the professionalism of his side after they beat high-flying Swindon Town.
Clayton Donaldson scored the only goal of the game as The Bees won in Wiltshire, their third away win in their last four outings.
Uwe, speaking after the match, explained he started with a 4-2-3-1 system with Clayton Donaldson on the right as he wanted to slow Swindon’s tempo.
But he knew his side had to do more to win the game so he made a change and saw his team pick up maximum points.
“I have seen Swindon a couple of times and they have been very, very good,” said Uwe.
“The intensity they have shown in some games has been unbelievable – Championship class.
“We started extremely well, the shape we had in the first 20 to 25 minutes worked very well.
“We started to concede a lot of throws and Swindon used them well to get crosses.
“They had the momentum just before half time; they had a lot of corners.
“I felt their best chance in the first half came after a foul on our goalkeeper.
“In the second half I knew we had to do more offensively to win the game.
“I wanted to keep the same shape for ten minutes and then move Clayton up front to go to 4-4-2.
“The last half hour we wanted to go for it.
“We got the goal; we got exactly what we needed.
“We did a professional job, they played long balls and that helped us.”
Uwe said he wanted to start the game with three men in the centre of midfield to make sure The Bees had more of the ball.
He said he believed his team could beat any in npower League One.
“We can beat anybody,” he said.
“We are probably not as attractive as we have been, but we are winning football games.
“I wanted to start with Paul Hayes tonight.
“We wanted someone who can really hold the ball under pressure.
“We wanted three midfield players against two to overload midfield.
“We wanted to get the ball down and hopefully get our passing game going.
“When we have seen them they have a high tempo, we wanted to stop that.
“We wanted to make them work against the ball.
“The first 20 minutes was extremely good.
“We stopped them putting balls in to the box in the second half.”
Swindon could have equalised late on when Chris Martin headed wide and Uwe said his team could have been punished for one lapse.
“These games are very much on the edge, they can go both ways,” he said.
“They had a header at the end that could have made it 1-1.
“In general we are learning and are much better when we are under pressure.
“Sam Saunders and Harry Forrester gave us momentum.
“In previous games, we have made one mistake and been punished.
“Today we weren’t.
“In football, every player, manager and team needs a bit of luck.
“I don’t think we were lucky to win but when their player has a free header, they could have scored.”
Uwe said he hoped to add to his squad before the loan window closes on Thursday but was full of praise for how his squad were coping with the season.
The Bees are currently without Farid El Alagui, Kevin O’Connor, Leon Legge and Tom Adeyemi due to injury and Uwe said he did not want any more injuries.
He will, however, have to do without Jonathan Douglas, who will miss Saturday’s match against Sheffield United after picking up his fifth booking against Swindon.
“We have lost one game in the last 13,” said Uwe.
“In every game these players give me 110 per cent.
“I can’t speak highly enough of them.
“We are coping with major injuries and dealing with a very thin squad.
“They are making sacrifices in their private lives to be fit for us, to be in the best possible shape to compete.
“I am proud to lead this group.”
