Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said his players were suffering from nerves during their 2-2 draw with Bury.
The Bees were pegged back twice after going ahead through first Harry Forrester and then Marcello Trotta.
Bury, who had spent the first 55 minutes defending almost exclusively, equalised the opening goal when Tom Soares raced on to a long ball forward and smashed home.
And after Brentford had restored their lead, Bury equalised again when Nicky Ajose headed home.
Uwe, speaking after the match, said he was happy with much of his team’s work on the day but they stopped doing what they had been doing well after going ahead.
“I was very happy with long spells of the game,” said the Brentford Manager.
“We played against a team that was very defensive minded, they put everyone behind the ball.
“We were patient, we passed the ball well, we controlled the game and in the first half we created four or five big opportunities, but we didn’t use them.
“I went in at half time and I was very happy.
“I said to the players to continue what they were doing.
“We did that and we got 1-0 up.
“The only negative thing for us today is that we showed nerves after we went 1-0 up.
“We invited pressure.
“We stopped doing what had worked well for us for 55 minutes.
“Individual mistakes have cost us.
“But I will not highlight individuals, we win together and we lose together.”
Brentford have taken seven points from their last seven npower League One games but still sit sixth in the table, only six points off the top with a game in hand on three of the five teams above them.
Uwe said the performances were not a concern – The Bees have only lost two of their last 17 league games – but there was a blip in results.
He said the players had to approach games without fear and continue to attack teams when they get ahead.
“I have no reason to be concerned,” said Uwe.
“We are having a blip in results, not in performances.
“We do not have a performance crisis, we have a results blip.
“The players have to understand we have nothing to lose, everything to gain.
“Certain individual from other clubs are trying to put pressure on us.
“They talk about budgets and this and that.
“We cannot stop that.
“We have to focus on us.
“We have an average age of 22 and a half, we have a squad with a lot of potential.
“Psychologically and mentally we have a way to go.
“There is no reason for us to be afraid when we lead; we have to go for the second goal and the third.
“The game had gone well, we shouldn’t stop doing that.”
Uwe also said Brentford needed to address their defensive issues, having conceded nine goals in their last four league games.
“We are conceding too many goals,” he said.
“With the defensive record we have, in the last four or five games, we won’t stay in the top six.
“We have to work on that and be mentally stronger.
“I know why we are conceding so many goals.
“We will put it right.”
