Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said if his team play well tomorrow, visitors Crawley Town will find it difficult to take anything from the game.
The Bees welcome the Sussex side to Griffin Park tomorrow for the first ever competitive meeting between the teams.
Brentford are unbeaten in four at home but Uwe, speaking to Bees Player yesterday, said everyone was disappointed with a 0-0 draw against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.
Crawley come to Griffin Park in third place in League One but Uwe said he was not worried about early positions in the standings.
“We are only focused on the 90 minutes against Crawley, not the table,” he said.
“If we do that, and are in a good condition mentally and physically, we have a very good chance to win the game.
“They are good, we know that.
“They are up there with us.
“We were all disappointed about not getting three points against Shrewsbury, but we played against a very good team, the best to come to Griffin Park so far this season.
“We have to make sure Crawley do not have a good day.
“That depends on how we play.
“If we play well, it is difficult for any opposition.”
Uwe said he did not want to make too much of a lack of goals from his strikers and had tried to remind them how good they were in the build-up to the game.
Clayton Donaldson, Farid El Alagui and Paul Hayes have scored seven between them this term but none since September 8.
Uwe said he was aware goals could come in “waves” for his front players and his job was to keep them positive.
“We had a light training session on Thursday, a little bit away from the serious stuff,” said Uwe.
“On Friday we have a serious session preparing for the game.
“We will also do some analysis and try to put good pictures in.
“We will try to remind players, especially the front players, how they have scored goals, how they have moved, how they have held the ball up.
“We don’t need to dramatize that our strikers have not scored for a while.
“We knew from last year that Clayton has spells like that.
“He scores his goals in waves.
“We need to be positive and remind him about the good things.”
Uwe said his team had it in them to improve.
“We have a lot of potential to be better in all areas,” said the Brentford boss.
“When you see the game against Shrewsbury, there is a lot of room for improvement at both ends.
“We have only conceded one goal in the four home games but our goalkeeper has been one of our best players.
“That means he has had a lot to do.
“To play a strong pressing game you need to be mentally and physically fresh.
“My aim is to have a team that will do that every game.”
He outlined one of the ways they could get better – moving the ball more quickly and getting more men forward.
“Against Shrewsbury we needed to go wide quicker,” he added.
“We often had a good defensive shape but when we win the ball we have to see where the space is and attack the space fast to open up the field.
“That is one way we have to improve.
“Our full backs, especially Jake Bidwell, were committed going forward.
“We had seven or eight crosses from that side in the first half, the quality was not always the best but the willingness to attack the space was very good.
“The best games we have had is when both sides attack.
“There is room for improvement on the right.”
