Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler hailed Will Grigg after the striker scored the winner for The Bees against Notts County at Meadow Lane.
Will Grigg, who started up front for Brentford with Clayton Donaldson and Kadeem Harris either side and Adam Forshaw just behind, scored the only goal of the game just before half time.
Toumani Diagouraga won the ball in midfield and fed it through for Will Grigg to fire a low left foot shot in to the back of the net.
Uwe, speaking after the match, said the striker was outstanding and he was very pleased with his contribution.
The goal was his second in four days after he bundled home the second goal in Brentford’s 3-2 win over Peterborough United on Tuesday.
Uwe said he was now back on track after injuries and international call-ups had limited his availability and he had not scored since early August.
“Will Grigg was outstanding,” said Uwe.
“It is hard to play up front on your own.
“He had very good movement throughout the 90 minutes.
“In the first half he and Adam Forshaw were offensively all we had, although Kadeem Harris was involved at times it was those two in particular.
“He scored the winner for us and had other chances.
“His overall game was very good.
“I am pleased with his contribution.
“Will is back on track.
“He looked very good on Tuesday and I knew his movement was sharp.
“He looked in a better place.
“He held up the ball well and he scored a fantastic goal, I am very happy.”
Uwe admitted Brentford did not play well in the first half.
He said Notts County had chances in the first period and Brentford “got out of jail”.
He said The Bees were better after the break and had the better chances over the 90 minutes.
“Unusually, we were poor in the first half,” said Uwe.
“We were very good in the second half.
“We were running on the goalkeeper four times and had the majority of the chances over the 90 minutes.
“We had good chances too.
“We stood defensively very well.
“There were too many crosses came over from the left in the first half.
“On another day they would have scored and it would have been difficult for us.
“We got out of jail.
“In the second half we were very good and I am very pleased with the second half performance.”
Uwe said Alan McCormack would have x-rays on a rib injury picked up during the match.
The right back fell heavily late on and was substituted.
Uwe said he took him off and brought on Shaleum Logan because of the threat posed by Notts County wide man Jack Grealish not because of the injury.
“I wasn’t aware of the injury when I made the substitution,” said Uwe.
“I felt we needed fresh legs to deal with their number seven.
“He is a good player one against one and we have one of the best full backs one against one in the division on our bench.
“I found out Alan fell on his back and we will check and x-ray his ribs.”
