Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler hailed his team for their fantastic fight back after they beat fellow promotion-chasers Swindon Town.
The Bees trailed at half time to a Simon Ferry goal, scored after Harlee Dean was robbed by Gary Roberts inside his own half.
But Sam Saunders equalised from the penalty spot with 18 minutes remaining and four minutes later Clayton Donaldson’s 21st goal of the season won it.
Uwe said Swindon, who started the day in third while The Bees were sixth, were the best team Brentford had played this season.
He said they played at an unbelievable tempo but tired and Brentford had enough in the locker to win.
“It was fantastic,” said Uwe, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“That was more like us, the way we fought back.
“That was the way we played in 2012.
“It was a fantastic second half.
“The players had problems in the first half, they didn’t give up, fought their way back in to the game and the second half was fantastic.
“And that was against a very good team.
“That was the best team we have played this season.
“It was the best performance against us this season.
“They had a very high tempo, an unbelievable tempo at the start.
“I knew they would fall off and between the 70th and 85th minute was our time.
“We had a go then and we won the game.”
Uwe said his team found a better recipe in the second half after “overcomplicating” things before the break.
He said he was very pleased with the way they bounced back, which they have not been able to do much since the start of 2013.
Uwe called on his players to keep the “never-say-die” attitude for the nine games left in their npower League One season.
“My team is very much about believing how good they are,” he said.
“I know we will make mistakes and today we were punished.
“In the first half we overcomplicated things; we didn’t know when to play and when to go direct.
“We learned and found a better recipe in the second half.
“The most important thing is that the players did not give up after a not so good first half, after being put under massive pressure.
“The way we bounced back, that is more like us.
“I am very happy we bounced back.
“At times in 2013 our heads have gone down when we have not got the first goal, when things have gone against us.
“It did not happen today.
“That is a great beginning for us.
“It is a beginning to the most important part of the season.
“We have to show the never-say-die spirit until the 90th minute for the rest of the season.
“I know we are good, today we have shown we can perform under pressure.
“It was a massive game.
“It was very impressive the way we came back after going a goal down.”
Brentford started with a 4-2-3-1 system with Marcello Trotta as the lone front man but switched to 4-4-2 and moved Clayton Donaldson up front midway through the first half.
The striker, who took his tally to 21 for the season with the winner, won the penalty after he was set away by substitute Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sam Saunders stepped up to equalise.
“We looked better in a 4-4-2,” said Uwe.
“Clayton got more involved, he was tremendous, he terrorised a top defence.
“He felt more comfortable playing in the centre.
“He stretched their back four.
“Sometimes it is like that, there is no reason why.
“We have played our starting system before and got good results against Sheffield United and Milton Keynes Dons with it.
“We looked very good second half.”
Uwe paid tribute to Sam Saunders for stepping up to take the penalty and his influence on the game.
“I was happy when Sam took the ball,” he said.
“Adam Forshaw was going to take it but he didn’t have one of his best games in the first half.
“Credit to him for the way he fought back in the second.
“Sam Saunders was in the right mood.
“He has been out for ten days, I wasn’t sure he was ready for the tempo.
“He showed me he was.
“He really influenced our game, I was happy for him.”
Uwe said Paul Hayes had gone out on loan to get matches and both he and fellow striker Antonio German, who is on loan at Gillingham, would return to Brentford match sharp for the run-in.
Brentford climbed to third in npower League One with the win and have just nine games remaining.
The first of those is against Preston North End at Griffin Park on Saturday.
The Lancashire club are unbeaten in four since the departure of manager Graham Westley.
“It will be another physical game,” said Uwe.
“They have not changed all their players; they will have a direct approach.
“We have to cope with that.
“We did that well in the second half today, it will be a tight game.”
