Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said his team deserved a share of the spoils against Preston North End.
The Bees picked up a point in a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal from substitute Antonio German, his first for the Club.
Preston had gone ahead in the second half when Scott Laird luckily bounced a shot past Simon Moore when he was free from the umpteenth ball pumped in to the Brentford penalty area.
Uwe said the home side had the better of the first period but felt his team were on top when they fell behind and deserved at least a point.
“In the first half we were under par,” said Uwe, speaking after the match.
“They put a lot of pressure on us.
“They didn’t outplay us but physically they put a lot of pressure on us.
“It was difficult for us to establish play.
“I wanted us to establish play more, keep control more, create more than we did.
“I think we controlled the second half and we deserved to get something out of the game.
“Their goal came out of nothing.
“In the second half I think we were the better team.
“We had them chasing shadows at times but the final pass wasn’t there.
“That is why we didn’t have a clear cut chance.
“The longer the game went I felt there was something in it for us.”
Uwe said he set his team up in the same way he did when the sides met in 2011/12 and Brentford won 3-1 at Deepdale.
He said he wanted his team to hurt the hosts on the counter attack and with quick passing and that meant they may be vulnerable defending set pieces.
Uwe said Preston were better than last term and had Brentford under pressure in the first half with their direct style.
“We didn’t come here with a physical team,” said the Brentford Manager.
“I chose a team that I thought could hit them on the counter and use our qualities on the ball.
“That meant there was a danger we could be vulnerable on corners and free kicks.
“We coped very well today.
“For their goal we coped with the first ball, but it came back in, we squeezed up and we lost a bit or organisation.
“One player was totally free and he miss-hit the ball and it went in.
“They deserved to be ahead in the first half but we got something working in the second and got what we deserved.
“We came here with the same plan we had last year with many of the same players, in an attacking sense.
“This year they are better.
“They are fitter.
“They put us under pressure with long balls, we couldn’t establish our play, when we went long Clayton Donaldson was a bit isolated and the ball came straight back.”
Brentford scored a goal in the last ten minutes for the eighth time so far in 2012/13 to earn a share of the spoils.
The goal came when Harlee Dean burst down the left and crossed for Antonio German to steer a header in to the far corner of the net.
“This was another example of chasing the game in the right way,” said Uwe.
“We didn’t go too long, we started to play.
“We were getting both full backs forward and I brought on Paul Hayes and Antonio German to get more bodies in the box.
“We were getting in positions to cross the ball but didn’t have enough firepower.”
Uwe said the goal would give Antonio German, who is part of the Club’s Under-21 Development Squad, a boost and could help him cement a place in the First Team squad.
He said he wanted to bring another striker to the Club before the loan window closed on Thursday as he needed four.
“It was a great goal,” said Uwe.
“Antonio needs to enjoy today but it’s important he gets his head down.
“This will give him a big boost.
“Hopefully he will now try even harder in training and can become our third or fourth striker on a regular basis.
“He has the potential.
“We will bring one more striker in.
“We regard ourselves as a top team in this division and we need four strikers.
“Antonio can make the third or fourth spot his.
“He has to be more consistent in training.
“He has shown today what he is capable of.”
