Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said his players have to go out against Colchester United at Griffin Park tomorrow and dominate the game.
The Bees face the Essex side in TW8 tomorrow looking to get back to winning ways after successive Sky Bet League One losses against Rotherham United and Stevenage.
The Bees were beaten by Stevenage last week after dominating the early stages and taking the lead through Clayton Donaldson.
They played poorly after Stevenage equalised and ended up on the wrong end of the score line.
Uwe called on his players to take the game to Colchester tomorrow and play attacking passing football as they have done since he arrived just over two years ago.
“You can’t wait for the first goal to come,” said Uwe, speaking to Bees Player yesterday.
“You have to make it come.
“We have to act, not react.
“We are at home, we have to dominate the game, we have to force them to make mistakes.
“We have to be on top of our game and play it in the right way.
“Against Stevenage I was not happy about the style of play.
“The ball was often in the air, it is difficult to do anything.
“We have to play like we have played for the last two years.”
Uwe, his coaching staff and players had a lengthy discussion after the defeat against Stevenage.
The Brentford Manager said the weekend gave everyone a chance to put it out of their system and then look ahead.
He said training had gone well this week and now the players had to turn that in to match day performances.
“We had a debrief for two hours in the dressing room after the game,” said Uwe.
“I think sometimes it is better to get it out of the system as soon as possible.
“As a manager, you are always thinking about it.
“When I came back on Monday it was out of the system.
“From Monday we have been planning for Colchester.
“Training has been good this week.
“As I have said, I have no complaints about training, the focus, the mood in the camp.
“We have to bring it consistently on the pitch.
“At the beginning against Stevenage everything looked bright and went our way.
“We need to make sure that when things go against us we keep out focus and confidence.”
Brentford can call on striker Will Grigg, who returned from a spell on international duty with Northern Ireland, and defender Raphaël Calvet, who has been away with France’s Under-20 side.
The Bees have also signed winger Kadeem Harris on loan from Cardiff City.
“I am pleased Will is back with us, as is Raphaël,” said Uwe.
“We have missed them.
“It gives a full team to choose from.
“Will has been away for the third time and has not played.
“I think he was disappointed not to play but that is not my call.
“We are happy to have him back.
“He has looked sharp in training and is ready to go.
“All our players are available on Saturday.”
Uwe said he though Colchester would come to Griffin Park to try and win the game, rather than defending for a draw.
He said they had weaknesses and Brentford had to exploit them.
“I saw Colchester against Bristol City, when they were away from home, and we have seen other games as well,” said Uwe.
“They are a good team.
“They have changed the type of players they have.
“They are a younger, energetic team.
“I think they will come to try and press us and I think they will come to try and win the game.
“It will be a more open game than it was against Rotherham or Leyton Orient.
“Every team has weaknesses we can exploit.
“We have to do it consistently.
“That will lead to success.
“We have to wear teams down, force them to make mistakes in their own half and then we have to punish them.
“We have to punish teams, using our chances.”
Uwe said his team had to get back to winning ways at Griffin Park after three league games without a win.
He said it was up to his players to play well so the Brentford supporters created the sort of atmosphere present in many games during the 2012/13 season.
“We had some great atmospheres at Griffin Park last season,” said Uwe.
“We raised the average attendance and filled the ground on a number of occasions.
“It was not usual for Brentford and I think everybody enjoyed it.
“Not just the players, manager and coaching staff, I think the supporters enjoyed seeing Griffin Park full and with a fantastic atmosphere.
“We have to recreate that sort of atmosphere.
“But that is not only up to the supporters, it is up to us.
“We have to be a force at home.
“When we are a force and win most of our games, the supporters will come in numbers.
“We have to start our momentum in home games and I am sure our supporters will support us.”
