Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler hailed the football his team played in their win over Shrewsbury Town, a victory he said was well deserved.
The Bees made it three wins in a week with a home win against the Shropshire side yesterday.
Marcello Trotta scored the only goal of the game, volleying home a Kadeem Harris cross.
Uwe, speaking after the game, praised Shrewsbury for their attacking intent but said his team played some excellent football.
He said the visitors made life difficult but Brentford dominated the first half, in particular, and could have scored more than one.
He admitted they had less control after the break but said the right team won the game.
“In the first half, especially, some of the stuff we played was excellent,” said Uwe.
“Our goal was fantastic combination football and we had chances to score more goals.
“All credit to Shrewsbury, most teams come here and sit deep and try to hit us on the counter.
“They really went for it, especially in the second half.
“They are a good team, they are well-organised and you can see why they don’t concede many foals.
“They made it difficult.
“In the second half we played too long and lost a little bit of control we had in the first half.
“We still had one or two massive chances.
“I was surprised, I expected Shrewsbury to be more defensive.
“They really wanted to win the game and the game was more open that I thought, especially in the first half.
“Offensively we were excellent in the first half but I felt defensively we were too open.
“Shrewsbury are an excellent side but with the chances we had I feel we deserved to win the game.”
Brentford’s win followed a home victory against Colchester United last week and a success on the road against Bristol City on Tuesday.
The Bees were the only team in Sky Bet League One to win three games in the past week and they have climbed to fifth in the table.
Uwe said the arrival of Kadeem Harris, on loan from Cardiff City, and being able to play a settled 4-3-3 system have helped his side.
He admitted there was more to do but confidence would grow with winning games.
“Overall, it has been a very good week for us,” said Uwe.
“A lot of our players are not used to playing league football at this intensity three times in a week.
“They came well out of the week.
“The back four was excellent and the presence and quality of Jonathan Douglas spreads confidence.
“In the past week we have got a new player in, we have a consistent formation and almost consistent starting XI.
“That leads to confidence and when you are winning it grows.
“There is a lot more work to do, we are not at the level we reached at our best last season but we are improving.
“Three wins will massively help us.”
A crowd of just short of 10,000 watched the win.
The attendance was boosted by a ‘Pay What You Can’ ticketing initiative.
Under the ‘Pay What You Can’ initiative advance match tickets for Brentford fans were sold at the best price the supporter can pay.
The minimum price for a ticket was £1 and the Club raised money for charity at the same time as when more than £5 was paid for a ticket, 50 per cent of the excess, excluding VAT, was collected and will be donated to the charity Sport Relief.
Uwe said the Club was working to increase its fanbase and winning games would help.
“In general we always try to push forward,” he said.
“Over the past two and a half years we have been noticed for playing good football.
“The first half today was excellent.
“We won the game, that was important.
“We need to widen our fanbase.
“An initiative like this helps, especially when you win and especially if we play like we did in the first half.
“We are doing it for the Club but also for charity.
“That is important.”
