Brentford goalkeeper Nik Tzanev could just be two wins from playing in the Olympic Games.
The teenager is in New Zealand’s Under-23 squad for the Pacific Games tournament which doubles as qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro and start next August.
New Zealand picked up their third win of the tournament early yesterday, Tuesday 7 July, beating New Caledonia 5-0.
Nik did not play but New Zealand are now in the semi-finals and will play Vanuatu on Friday, 10 July.
If they win that match and one more they will qualify for the Olympic Games.
Nik, 18, is one of three goalkeepers in the Under-23 squad and has three Under-20 caps but has yet to play at the higher level.
